More Literary Links I Love

• I am all about book recommendations.  I've got lists and lists of books I should read. Bookish has a tool where you input two books and they recommend four to you.  Check out their choices for someone who liked Middlesex and Atonement.  Then try it with books you liked.
• Emily Temple at Flavorwire published this post back in February, but I somehow missed it until now.  Here, she discusses Four Things Jane Austen Actually Teaches Us About Love.  Four of the best love lessons anyone can ever learn.  As if we needed more reasons to love Ms. Austen.
• Cory Doctorow posts his Favorite Young Adult Book Reviews over at Boing Boing.  If it does nothing more than bring Dark Lord to your attention, then it has done it's job.  
• Crazy associations abound at Flavorwire in this, slightly untimely link.  Back in August, Emily Temple penned this article, What To Read While You're Missing  Your Favorite TV Shows.  I don't feel too bad posting this almost two months after it was first published on the website, considering that Veronica Mars and Buffy the Vampire Slayer have been off the air for years.  Having read most of the books suggested, I'd have to say that you can't go wrong with any of these suggestions.
• Banned Books week ended the other day, but that doesn't mean that the fight against book censorship should ever abate.  Bookish has this post of The Best Dystopian Novels About Banned Books.  
• Here's on entitled Sex Advice from Famous Authors.  I post it with no editorialization at all. Take from it what you will.
• Book Riot comments on the ubiquitous James Franco and his appearance on the movie tie-in cover for Faulkner's As I Lay Dying by positing that we should just put Franco on every book cover, along with some examples.
• Now that the fall tv season is officially upon us, Book Riot shares the 2013 Fall TV Lineup:  Shows Based on Books..  I'm not sure how good Sleepy Hollow might be, but Ichabod Crane is awfully nice to watch.
• I've never been part of a book club.  I've never been that much of a joiner. That was more my mom's thing. She loved it and I loved it for her, but it's never really been me.  However, I always love the descriptions of really good, fun sounding book clubs.  Book Riot contributor Rachel Halter posted this article, The Reinvention of the Modern Book Club:  Now With More Beer. Who wouldn't want to join one of these?
• Michelle Dean at Flavorwire discusses 12 Genuinely Great Books About May-December Romances.  While most of these are very good books which totally fit the bill of May -December romances, I find the inclusion of Lolita to be disgusting.  Yes, it is absolutely a genuinely great book.  What amazes me most about Nabokov is his ability to write so beautifully about such horrible people.  Humbert Humbert's relationship with Lolita is not a romance. She's a little girl and nothing that goes on between them is right or romantic.  I get that people tend to think she has a part in this. They forget that they got this idea from her abuser.  Humbert Humbert is one of the least trustable narrators in literature. He goes from self-deprecation to rationalization of acting on his sick fantasies.
